With each new doctor, at some single point I try asking them: how many patients out of 1000 does X happen to? I can never get over the blank look that appears in their eyes, then, like they don't know the number, nobody's ever asked before, and they've no idea why anyone would.

And then I go home, and talk to an AI that will treat me like my own vision of an adult human being.
