PSA: Despite apparently widespread confusion, a Tsunami Advisory specifically means that a tsunami has been generated *but is not expected to be large/destructive at a particular location*. It is not inherently an "upgrade" to a Tsunami Watch (as a Tsunami Warning would be).

While it is still possible for an advisory to be upgraded to a warning, if new information arises, that is not the usual/expected path: a Watch would become either an Advisory (only a thread to immediate coastline) or a Warning (a more serious threat of inland inundation).
