We’ve quietly acquired three XCOPY 1/1s that, together, form a story about power, autonomy, and control in the digital age. And now, we’re ready to talk about it. Chapter 1: Death by Algorithm by @XCOPYART Minted in 2019, this piece hits harder every year. An open mouth covered. Eyes wide. Glitch static drowning everything out. It’s a visual scream, silenced.

1/ Diffuse Control is officially open to the public at the Shed @TheShedNY! In addition to recognizing Beeple’s brilliant artwork @beeple , we’d like to also highlight the three curators who contributed to the exhibition, by each selecting six artworks to influence the sculpture and its generated extracts.

i am extremely honored that the first curator to be a part of DIFFUSE CONTROL is Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev... she was the first person from the traditional world to reach out to try understand this my work and this new movement in digital art. through our many talks over the years she has taught me an immense amount about art history and her devotion to understanding new forms of art is truly inspiring...

1/8 Here’s to those who pass the token forward 🪄 Early XCOPY works were long thought lost, stuck in an obsolete token standard after the fall of R.A.R.E. Art Labs in 2020. Thanks to a dedicated effort by @XCOPYART , @Coldie , @jPeggy295 , @Rhynotic and @vrde , they’ve been revived through the R.A.R.E. Art Wrapper. We’re proud to share that 3 XCOPYs have entered the Kanbas collection: Disaster Suit, Dirtbag, and Cracked.

We’ve seen glimpses of its magic, but the time has come for you to experience @beeple’s Diffuse Control IRL. The Kanbas Collection is proud to support its public debut in NYC at the Shed @TheShedNY opening June 27, 2025!

“Here is an artist @beeple Alex Poots says, “who's really coming from a different world … he is not from within the sanctum of the visual art world. And yet I've certainly learned an enormous amount from his practice and from the way the people in the exhibition are part of the work.” The artist’s “grammar”, Poots says, “is more multi-layered than you see if you just look at his work online on a laptop. And I think that's what I'm getting very interested in. And that's why I think he's a significant new voice."
