I see a decent amount of parallels between Meta and Apple on AI: - Incredible distribution — billions of users - Weak AI integration today — yes Meta AI has 1B MAUs (but what about ‘engagement’) - Strong underlying business fundamentals — $aapl at $70B FCF in ‘24A and $meta at $54B (ample amount to fund their AI ambitions) Of course Meta also led open source development with Llama. But the big difference is unlike Cook, Zuckerberg is once again taking big swings in AI and making billion dollar investments to build out his superintelligence team. Google, no doubt, is a fearsome competitor to OpenAI. But I think Meta really has an opportunity to do something special with all of this capital investment. Zuckerberg is literally assembling the avengers in real time, looking to poach the best from OpenAI, Anthropic, Apple, Scale, and certainly others. He is definitely a worthy contender in this race to AGI, literally calling his unit ‘superintelligence.’ It’s not just that he has capital, it’s the fact he’s putting it to work. It’s the fact that OpenAI is publicly responding to Meta’s offers, saying they’re unethical, etc. But you know what they say, “all is fair in love and war.” Gn
