My issue with Mamdani is entirely about policing. All the rest, are distractions, because a city lives or dies by it's public order. As a wealthy guy who's lived in Uganda, a large part of his life has been about being guarded, gated, and removed from the hub-bub of the masses he romanticizes. Be it being transported around in 4 wheel drives, or living behind gates, or having a host of servants. I walked from this hill to the water four miles away, and let me tell you, what surrounds these gated wealthy compounds is a poverty that should radicalize anyone - but hopeful with some self awareness, including how far much better the US is.
