I ran a little experiment yesterday: I took a detailed "prompt" for a B2B app and put it into Replit, Lovable, + 3 newer prosumer vibe platforms Honestly couldn't really tell the difference between any of them at "first code" They weren't identical. But they all looked like Claude built it and almost all used the same fonts, same icons, etc. They all actually looked pretty good. From a pure product marketing / copy perspective, I might actually grab bits and pieces from each. Was sort of like seeing 5 variants of the same thing from a design team.
It reminded me a bit of my first investment ever, Pipedrive I co-led the seed. At the time, there were basically 12 kanban-for-sales prosumer apps that bascially all looked the same. I couldn't tell the difference. Pipedrive was just growing the fastest. In the end, it exited for $1.5B cash. This might be the sanest way to do 'prosumer' AI investing. Just invest in whomever is growing the fastest and call it a day.
Now it is interesting, run a vibe prompt in Claude (not Claude Code), and it will actually build you an 'app' too But not much of a one So you can see how much value the prosumer vibe apps do add But in the end, on the surface, at "first prompt" ... they can be hard to tell apart
