Obviously the WSJ has a long history of advocating for mass immigration and open borders. But it’s telling that the author doesn’t even attempt to grapple with the abuse of the H1B visa system, or acknowledge the absurdities uncovered by FL DOGE in our universities (such as H1B’s employed as assistant coaches and media relations specialists). The author even tried to invoke NHL hockey players who don’t use H1B visas but instead use P-1A or O-1A visas. The article reflects lazy thinking on the right that “illegal immigration bad, legal immigration good,” but the debate about what types and what levels of immigration are in the best interests of the American people requires conservatives to think more critically.
