I have a theory why all kinds of "intellectual" texts are becoming increasingly gross and unreadable. That is because an author is trying to shield himself from all kinds of stupid (or bad faith) objections he is going to get after the publication
So, he tries to over-explains himself, preemptively. The problem is: no one wants to read these overexplanations, they give nothing to your soul and mind. For the most part, these lengthy and nuanced discussions of stupid (or just dishonest) arguments are dull, uninteresting
My advice is not so much to ignore the criticism but be picky about it. Very, very picky. You can respond to the critics, you can debate their objections BUT be choosy. Choose interesting, meaningful, important objections to respond to, and just ignore the rest
