0) Week 2 in the books for our 60-day plan, aka "August We Moon" for @photofinishgame + $CROWN
Lots of behind the scenes work this week, not as many user-facing features, but let's dig in!

2) The PFL PRO "write" API (meaning you can enter a horse to a race or breed a horse) is looking good in stage, still in testing but close to done. This one we have wanted to make sure it's easy for end-users and third party tools to use, and we have to be vigilant on security since it's effectively in a separate "lane" than normal transactions that are protected by MFA and user auth.
3) We created more dev-tooling and analytics for "cohorting", so now Bryce and live ops folks can pull players that match criteria like their spend, last login, etc and create special racing events + deposit match / bonus rewards + email campaigns. Emails should start Monday for the upcoming "Freeroll Mania" event.

4) One thing I've been focused on with Bryce that CURRENT players will be most interested in is a core change to how we author the schedule.
I personally think we have gotten way too "splintered". Trying to make enough races to handle basically every single tiny edge case can end up make it just really really hard to find a race and its also ultra intimidating to new players (to say nothing of what it does to confuse upcoming OTB players!)
I've been running some tests locally that I am excited by. The concept is that for maiden, claimer, and allowance race styles (not touching graded/stakes), we actually manually create WAYYYYYY fewer races. It could just be 1 of each short / mid / long + left / right + dirt / turf...
So now we could imagine for say a 12 hour window, there's a spread of a few claimers open that cover the main archetypes and distances.
But these "races" are basically just "buckets" - they accept an infinite amount of horses that can join. After 12 hours then, the buckets close, and the 'oracle' would generate a bunch of ACTUAL races in the schedule for all of those horses, auto-filling them each at say 5-6 horses full.
(Note that this system is how our previous mobile game worked - we call it the "spill over" style)
But the difference is that we would then add another chunk of hours that those races are created they're still open, allowing people that missed the bucket phase to still be able to join races that are guaranteed to run.
This should mean a MUCH easier / catch-all way to join races for your whole stable that can always guarantee a place for you to race. And for those players that want the extra skill of finding the races themselves specifically, they still can.
I imagine there will be a lot of people that strongly disagree with a concept of SBMM (skill based matchmaking) happening in this process. I think I'll be honest that I kinda want to try it, not even thinking it has to be every race, but I think it has its place. Would love to hear the thoughts and discussion around it.
In layman's terms that means:
- SBMM: 50 horses enter, when 10 races are made, the 5 horses are placed strategically in the races to match their closest competition
- No SBMM: 50 horses enter, when 10 races are made, the horses are randomly placed in the races
I don't imagine this will be "DONE" by Season 31 but hopefully we can try at least one or two stabs at it during the season to make sure people get it and it's generally well received.
We all want more horses out on the track. This combined with API race entry I think can really get a lot more horses out there, both for the larger stables AND the new stables.
5) On the OTB and OpenTote side, we this week for the first time proved out the flow of external events working alongside the Photo Finish races. We expect to unveil a lot of the new OTB magic on our new event - "Finish Strong Fridays" - starting Jul 25.
(not a real logo)

6) On the compliance front, we eagerly await word from eCogra with audit completed and everything finalized and submitted there. SOC2 and ISO27001 still ongoing.
7) For Simulcast, we're working out all the details with our first "beta bar" - a little place in Montana - to also participate in Finish Strong Fridays.
They already run weekly events and a reward setup for competitions that earn free drinks via "chips". I imagine they'll run the first test Aug 8. Lots to learn from this event and super exciting.
8) As we get closer to an official launch we continue go to market planning. We reached out to over 100 twitter accounts for paid opportunities and have begun outreach to a large collection of streamers and communities with affiliate offers.
We've even built OBS streamer packages to help people get up and running easily.
If you haven't heard from us and think you can bring new players into the OTB please make sure you ping @jimcrispy69 , he's the keeper of the spreadsheets.
9) Lastly, we are officially signed up for the @solanamobile hackathon.
Yes, we have a big mobile surprise in store.
10) Thanks as always for all the support as we continue to blaze new trails - all focused on taking @photofinishgame and $CROWN to that true next level.
August We Moon.
