We can fight on the feed about primary sources, but education very rarely uses primary sources anyways. At the HS level, ~every field other than literature teaches using almost exclusively secondary sources. Literature is special because, like, it's about reading the book
A few places, like UChicago, insist on still teaching students some subset of the "classics" in primary-source form - but the rest of the world has moved on. The debate is practically resolved for all intents and purposes: it really doesn't matter what the author originally said
